Introduction
Willimantic is one of the few towns we serve where the interstate isn't the fastest way to us. The OSRM route planner sends you east on two-lane roads: about 19 miles, roughly 36 minutes from downtown Willimantic to 12 Plainfield Rd in Canterbury. From downtown, take Route 32 and Plains Road out to Route 14. Follow Route 14 east through Windham Center and Scotland for about 10 miles, then take Route 169 south and Butts Bridge Road into Canterbury. It's slower per mile than a highway run, but there are no interstate merges, which a lot of first-time towers appreciate on the way home.
Who in the Windham area buys trailers
The Windham area mixes downtown Willimantic, Eastern Connecticut State University, and rural neighbors like Lebanon, Columbia, Chaplin and Hampton. Buyers here tend to fall into three groups.

If you're going out on your own, a 6x12 single-axle enclosed trailer is the usual first trailer: lockable, light enough for many half-ton pickups and mid-size SUVs, and big enough for a full tool setup. Financing without a Social Security Number
Not everyone has a Social Security Number or a long credit history, so Souza offers ITIN financing alongside conventional loans. ITIN financing doesn't require an SSN, but it does need proof of residence, and the lender makes the approval decision. Business owners can finance under an EIN to keep the trailer off their personal credit. There's also lease-to-own, C3 rent-to-own, or you can bring your own bank or credit union.
Before you head to the DMV
Step one on the CT DMV's trailer registration page is to clear any compliance issues, such as unpaid taxes, before you go. Registration for personal trailers is in person only, at a hub or branch office. Connecticut titles only trailers over 3,000 lbs gross weight (CT DMV).
Prices and holds
Every unit shows both a card price and a cash or check price; see the current inventory. To lock in a unit before you make the trip, you can reserve it online with a $200 deposit. That holds the trailer for one week. The deposit is non-refundable, but it can be transferred to another trailer purchase, and the balance is paid at the dealership. All trailer sales are final (shipping, returns and payment policy), so ask your questions before you buy.
